Posted on 11/05/2023

CCE Parents and Guardians,

This is a 3-day school week! There is no school on Thursday, November 9 and Friday, November 10. On the 9th of November, DJUSD elementary teacher “workday” is approved on our 2023-2024 district calendar; no elementary schools are in session. All Junior & Senior High Schools and DSIS will be open on November 9. Friday, November 10 is the observance of Veteran’s Day, District Office and all DJUSD schools will be closed.

Youth Truth - Family Survey is Open ytsurvey.org/djusdfamily23

  • WHO: One parent or guardian from each household is invited to take the Family Survey for each of their children’s schools. Our goal is to have ≤75% CCE household response rate = 375 CCE parents and guardians!
  • WHAT: The anonymous Youth Truth Family Survey gives parents and guardians the opportunity to provide feedback for their child’s school in areas like culture, engagement, relationships, communication & feedback, school safety, and resources.
  • WHEN/WHERE: Survey window is October 30-November 17
  • WHY: Valuing parent and guardian input by inviting family members to share their perspectives can support family engagement efforts, which have been shown to contribute to a range of elements of student achievement, i.e. increased attendance, improved grades, and social skills.
  • HOW: The YT Family Survey is online, and is available in English, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, or French. It typically takes about 15 minutes to complete. The survey must be completed in one sitting.

Thank you for your participation!

Sra. Dunn

Highlights

halloween parade

CCE Halloween Parade

The students and staff showed off their Halloween costumes during Tuesday’s Halloween Parade before school! It is so wonderful to see the creativity and joy this day brings to our school!

dia de los muertos

Día de Muertos Celebration

¡Muchas gracias, comunidad de CCE y SIPAT! This year’s Thursday, November 2, Día de los Muertos celebration was truly exceptional. We are grateful for the DDLM Planning Committee, SIPAT, staff, parent volunteers, Davis Senior High School’s Latinos Unidos club, and CCE alumni for bringing our school community together to experience a cultural and traditional school event. Over 400 students, families, and community members joined us in honoring passed loved ones by visiting the vibrant community altars, in addition to craft making, games, celebrating with mariachi musicians, folklorico dancers, a bake sale, food trucks, pan muerto, and viewing of the movie Coco. We are honored to be part of a school community who embraces and supports multiculturalism and multilingualism in meaningful contexts that support our school’s program. ¡Sí se puede!

Campus Beautification

Friday CCE Campus Beautification

Many thanks to our Los Lobos who took advantage of the nice weather on Friday to help pick up scattered wrappers across the campus from the weeks’ activities. It was amazing to see our students take the initiative with the help of classroom teachers and staff to show CARES in our gardens and campus zones.
