Principal Dunn Update - October 22, 2023
Posted on 10/22/2023

Good afternoon,

I hope this message finds you and your family enjoying Fall season activities.  Our school has completed all the required emergency practice drills this Fall, including our DJUSD Test communications with 100% CCE recipients (parent and/or guardian) contacted!  Our next step to improve safety measures at CCE is to maintain a campus radio inventory of 45 radios; a radio for every classroom teacher, outdoor supervisor, and office & support staff member.  We are close to our goal and only need 10 more radios = $4,319.98.  If any school members would like to donate directly to this goal, please consider donating to CCE webstore here.  The funds collected will fund the direct purchase of 10 radios.  We greatly appreciate the support our school receives each year from SIPAT parents and CCE family members.

Have a wonderful week,

Sra. Dunn

Highlights

CCE Book Club

The library is excited to start a book club for our 4th - 6th grade students! The book club will meet approximately twice per month during lunch time.  Students will read the selected books independently (or with an adult at home)  and then we will discuss them during our meetings.

We will start by reading the three chapter books nominated for the California Young Reader Medal: A Game of Fox & Squirrels by Jenn Reese, We’re Not From Here by Geoff Rodkey, & Across the Desert by Dusti Bowling.

Students can pick up a permission slip from the library to join.  Please email, Petrina Jonas, CCE Teacher Librarian with any questions. [email protected]

breast cancer awareness

Breast Cancer Awareness Month – CCE Staff Pink Out

Our staff showed support wearing pink this past Monday, October 16 to celebrate our beloved custodian, Mirna “Bea” Olivera’s 3-year anniversary from recovery of breast cancer. Our hope is to support our community members who have had breast cancer touch their lives in any way.
