It is the time of year to complete the DJUSD Intent to Return Form Online! To complete this form, log into the DJUSD Parent Portal (https://parentportal.djusd.net). Please click here for detailed instructions on how to complete the Intent to Return Form. If you forgot your pin and password, you may select “Forgot your PIN?” or “Forgot Your Password?” links on the Parent Portal login page. We ask that you complete this process for each child currently enrolled in TK-5th grades no later than Friday, March 22, 2024.

Highlights
4th Grade Field Trip to Coloma
Last week, our fourth-grade students from Maestra Chavez’s and Srta. Vazquez’s classrooms attended their Marshall Gold Discovery State Park field trip. It was an opportunity for our students to try gold panning, participate in a guided tour of the park as well as broadening the historical context recognizing the native people and events leading up to the gold discovery.
5th Grade Field Trip to The Woodland Regional Park Preserve
5th and 6th Grade Science Teacher, Sra. Bugni, coordinated a local and free field trip for her 5th grade science classes to visit the retired landfill now a 160-acre nature park. Students were able to see how resilient nature is as the preserve is working to enhance the wetland plants and wildlife in this region.
Education Through Music Night
It was wonderful to see CCE students laughing and playing with their parents and siblings while learning some basics of music and developing their creativity and imagination. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to DSAF for funding this grant, and to Lydia Cooley for organizing the parent night as a precursor to the Education Through Music Day Camp DJUSD will be offering this summer.

CCE Spring Scholastic Book Fair: Mon., March 18 – Thur., March 21
- Kinder through 6th grade classes will have the opportunity to preview the Scholastic book spring selection on Monday, March 18.
- Daily Shopping Monday, 3/18 – Thursday, 3/21 from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Caregivers must accompany their student(s) during this shopping time.
- Students can shop during their scheduled classroom reservation between Tuesday, March 19-Thursday, March 21, though there is no shopping during recess breaks.
March PEP Talk: Self-Care for Parents & Caregivers
It is easy to lose sight of your own well-being with all the responsibilities that come with parenting. In this month’s virtual PEP talk, we will talk about the importance of self-care for parents and caregivers, discuss effective evidence-based strategies for self-care and learn how to create a life enhancing self-care plan you can use right away without letting it become a burden.
